"Take care of customers like guests in your home." That was the philosophy of Charles R. Walgreen, Sr. when he opened his very first pharmacy on Chicago's South Side in 1901. Although the small shop appeared much like other drugstores of the time, customers soon discovered a new era of innovation, efficiency, and personal service.
As Walgreens celebrates its 100th anniversary we also celebrate our founder's legacy---the foundation of what today is a company of more than 3400 drugstores... serving three million Americans every day as "The Pharmacy America Trusts."
